Bio: If you put a Georgia theater chick, a California drummer-turned-banjo player, a Deadhead bass player and a bluegrass fiddler in the same room and say...."alright folks... make some music" ...you'd think that the result would be...well... interesting to say the least. Well , it is far more than interesting. It's Deadwood Revival. A most unlikely group of musicians join together to make some of the most unassuming, honest "feel good" music filled with the spirit of old-time Appalachia, soulful American roots and a hint of jam-band improvisation.
Deadwood Revival came onto the scene as a duo in early 2005 when Kim Trenerry and Jason Mogi, after years of co-fronting their own folk rock jam band found a new love...that of old time Appalachian music. Combining their rock background with old time gave Kim and Jason their reputation as "one of the hottest duos around". Hundreds of concerts and festivals, four west coast tours, and two cd's later...Kim and Jason reconnected with long time friend, bassist Ches Ferguson in June 2007 and the duo became a permanent trio. In late 2007, DwR met former "Looking Glass" fiddler, Julie Campbell, who brings her fierce fiddle playing to the DwR sound at select concerts and festivals. |

Bio: The tale of Storyhill really begins in 1989, when Chris Cunningham and John Hermanson graduated from high school in Bozeman, MT, and recorded their first tape together. Friends since seventh grade, they'd begun playing together, but it proved to be a brief union. Cunningham moved to Spain, while Hermanson went to college in Minnesota, where he continued playing music, not only making a name for himself around town, but also selling the tape the duo had made. That was enough to bring Cunningham back, and the pair performed, first around Minnesota, then nationally until 1996, recording along the way as Chris & Johnny and also under the name Storyhill. By then they decided they needed different paths. Cunningham moved briefly to Seattle before returning to Bozeman, while Hermanson traveled to Norway, where he composed his first solo disc, before coming back to the U.S., where he began touring with a band, Alva Star, as well as working alone. After a few reunion shows, Cunningham and Hermanson decided it was time to get back together as a touring and recording duo under the Storyhill moniker, and the result was the self-titled Storyhill in 2007. |
